Richard (Dick) Holley, 1942 - 2020

I first met Dick in 1965 when I went to Kingston Polytechnic and joined the Vikings.   He was an ASM in the troop.  He was with the Vikings from cub through to GSL.   In addition he was a team leader with Walton Firs Scout Camp service crews.   He kept up his association with the Vikings and Walton Firs until his death.   Dick was very versatile at all trades which made him invaluable to the Firs and the Vikings.

Dick was for sometime ADSL in Walton.   He was also very involved with Thames Valley Skiff Club.   He and Sue lived for many years in Annett road in Walton before moving to Petworth.

I had the pleasure of having Dick as best man at my wedding

Dick and Sue were very caring people and Dick would help anybody when there was a need.  They also had very good parties.   We well remember Gower House and the parties there!

Sue Holley, 1943-2022

Sue was the better half of Richard Holley.   She was always in support of the many activities that Richard was involved in, particularly Walton Firs.   I first met Sue in 1965 at a small party at Gower House.  I still remember those Gower House parties!!

Sue was a cordon bleu chef.  Frequently we would turn up at Sue and Richard's house after an event and she would say 'is anybody hungry?'.  She followed this with 'I don't know what I have got in'.   Fifteen minutes later a sumptuous meal was on the table.
