John Forbat was originally from Hungary. He came to the UK in 1935. He joined the scout association and spent a large part of his life being a member. This was initially as cub and scout and then in a variety of leader roles.
John Forbat was a King's Scout.
He was an aeronautical engineer and spent some time at Vickers (BAE) in Weybridge. It was at this time that he was an ASM at Viking Sea Scout Group. He was initially associated with Fulham Sea Scouts. He was also associated with Ajax Sea Scout Group in Surbiton.
I first met him in the early '70s when he was appointed ACC Surrey (Sea Scouts). This was at Ajax headquarters and was at a 'meet the surrey sea scouters' event.
John was a very positive person and focussed on achieving. He is a sad loss to the association
