Chris Cranmer, 19?? - 2020

Chris joined the Vikings in the 1960s as a venture scout.  He was heavily involved in boating particularly canoeing.   He moved on to other things even working on a kibbutz for a time.   He eventually moved to France.  He got married had children and became a campsite owner in the south of France.

Richard (Dick) Holley, 1942 - 2020

I first met Dick in 1965 when I went to Kingston Polytechnic and joined the Vikings.   He was an ASM in the troop.  He was with the Vikings from cub through to GSL.   In addition he was a team leader with Walton Firs Scout Camp service crews.   He kept up his association with the Vikings and Walton Firs until his death.   Dick was very versatile at all trades which made him invaluable to the Firs and the Vikings.

Dick was for sometime ADSL in Walton.   He was also very involved with Thames Valley Skiff Club.   He and Sue lived for many years in Annett road in Walton before moving to Petworth.

I had the pleasure of having Dick as best man at my wedding

Dick and Sue were very caring people and Dick would help anybody when there was a need.  They also had very good parties.   We well remember Gower House and the parties there!

Sue Pilley, 1954 - 2019

Sue joined the Viking fraternity when she and Mike Pilley became 'an item'.  They married in March 1976.  Because of Mike's naval career we did not often meet, but when we did it was always very pleasant.  An exceptional cook, she will be sadly missed

Having entered the portals of 23 Esher Ave, Sue had little alternative but to join the Viking family where she was made to feel so welcome.    This involved trying out activities on the river and of course helping at the annual Fete both of which are depicted in the photographs provided (see gallery)/
